What is the CFA designation?
CFA - Chartered Financial Analyst
The Chatered Financial Analyst designation is recognized as one of the premier professional designations in the investment industry. CFA charterholders have passed three rigorous six-hour exams and agree to abide by the industry's most rigorous professional standards. They must also have an undergraduate degree from an accredited university and at least four years of work experience in an investment decision-making role.
What does being a Fiduciary mean?
As a registred investment advisor, Cambridge Advisors has a Fiduciary duty to act in the best interests of our clients. In contrast, brokers and some other financial advisors adhere to a suitability rule. While investments may be suitable for a client, they may not be the most appropriate. A Fiduciary is required to disclose any conflicts of interest. Such detailed disclosure is not required under the suitability rule.
What is a Fee-Only Financial Advisor?
Several revenue structures exist under which financial advisors receive compensation. Some advisors such as brokers receive commissions on securities they sell. Other advisors charge a fee for services provided. This fee may be a set amount, an hourly charge or a percentage fee based on the amount of assets they manage. When an advisor describes themselves as "fee based" it normally means they receive a fee for services in addition to commissions. A "fee-only" advisor does not receive any compensation from commissions.
Can Cambridge Advisors serve clients in states other than Nebraska?
Yes. Cambridge Advisors is a registered investment advisor regulated by the SEC and can serve clients in any state where we are registered or where an exemption or exclusion from such registration exists. We have found that through the internet, email and phone calls we are still able to provide a high quality service to clients outside Nebraska.
What is your investment minimum?
Our stated investment minimum is $500,000 of investable assets for our investment management services. Under special circumstances, we have made an exception especially if we feel we can add value and have been introduced through a client, family member or friend. For those who do not meet our minimum, our financial planning services - which include retirement planning - are available on a stand alone basis and with no minimum.
